How to get rid of the smell quickly:

Shake out the jacket after unpacking and hang it in a well-ventilated area.
Air it out for at least 24–48 hours; don't hang it straight in the closet.
Optionally wash on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent.
Air dry (do not tumble dry), preferably on a hanger.
After a few days, the smell should be noticeably reduced or completely gone.
