Moisturizing Body Oil

Moisturizing Body Oil

Every time I visit a Korean spa in LA (my favorites are Natura Spa and Olympic Spa) and get a body scrub (where you are literally exfoliated from head to toe, while lying on a massage table, being doused with warm water every so often… feeling kind of like a fish), I am reminded that my skin is my largest organ and I really should take better care of the 95% of it that isn’t on my face.

Every morning and evening I wash my face and moisturize it with all natural products from amazing companies like OY-L and Suki Skincare, taking care to exfoliate or give it a detoxifying mask.

The Korean spa experiences remind me of the rest of my skin and I’m here to give you a recipe for a really easy and inexpensive full body oil that will make your skin SO soft (especially if you exfoliate in the shower!), will absorb into your body and will make you smell amazing.

The base of this oil is Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Olive Oil contains three antioxidants that moisturize and help protect from early aging, a compound called Hydroxytyrosol that fights against free radical damage to the skin, and it won’t clog your pores! Olive oil already has vitamin E in it, but we’re going to add a bit more, just to boost the benefits.

We’ll be adding some essential oils as well…

lavender is very calming, can help relieve pain and enhance blood circulation.

rosemary is good to soothe digestive issues and relieves aches and pains as well.

bergamot contains components that are are antibiotic and disinfectant in nature and inhibit the growth of germs, virus, and fungi. They also effectively prohibit infections, including those of the skin.

rose geranium naturally repels insects, is a mood booster and helps promote smooth and shining skin.

What you need:

  • Bottle with a pump
  • Lavender, Rosemary, Bergamot and Rose Geranium essential oils
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Vitamin E oil

What you do:

  • Fill the bottle 2/3 full with Olive Oil
  • Add the remaining 1/3 of Vitamin E
  • Add 10 drops of each essential oil for every oz of liquid (this is just dependent on how big your bottle is!)

The best time to apply is directly after a shower, when the skin is soft and supple and wants to absorb the nutrients and benefits of this oil mixture.

This oil is also amazing for massage!
