When I was growing up, my father and I would get soft tacos from the local Mexican restaurant as a special treat. The even bigger treat was the delicious, homemade horchata we would share!
I decided to make my own version of it this holiday season, using my amazing NutraMilk. For Black Friday, NutraMilk is having a really amazing sale of $100 off plus free shipping so definitely check it out here. And if you’re not reading this on Black Friday, just know this appliance is still my favorite and you should absolutely consider putting The NutraMilk on your Christmas wishlist! With my code KIKI50 you get $50 off. I make all our nut butters, smoothie bowls, milks, pestos, sauces, blended soups etc in there… It’s been a game changer in our kitchen since we bought it.
This shouldn’t take longer than 5 minutes all together so let’s get this Horchata party going!
- 1 cup roasted and unsalted almonds
- 1 cup roasted and unsalted cashews
- 4 cups filtered water
- 4 Tbs pure maple syrup
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1-2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp nutmeg
Add the almonds and cashews into the NutraMilk and BUTTER for 4 minutes. Add the water, maple, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg and MIX for 1 minute. Put a quart jar under the spigot and DISPENSE the beautiful horchata out. Enjoy!
Alternatively, if you don’t have a NutraMilk, you can use a blender and a nutmilk bag. Blend the almonds and cashews with the water, strain through a nutmilk, place the almond/cashew milk back into the blender and add the remaining ingredients and blend until combined. Enjoy!
I hope you love this holiday Horchata! I have been enjoying it in evening with a cookie or just by itself, yum!
