When you make your own almond milk, like I’ve recently started doing, the thing you have left over at the end of the process is a whole lot of almond pulp! Now, you could throw it away, but I don’t like to waste things, so I’ve been spending the last two weeks coming up with different recipes and adding almond pulp to different things that I already make!
This is a new one for me though. I love getting my body scrubbed. I usually indulge in a Korean Spa experience, but the fact that I can now give myself a full body scrub in my normal shower routine is really exciting, and it feels amazing. This nourishing body scrub leaves my skin feeling smoother, tighter and brighter and I’m so thrilled to be sharing the recipe with you today!
Vegetable glycerin is completely clear jelly-like liquid, water-soluble and non-toxic. It can be used as an effective cleanser and/or toner, to soften the skin and with a non-comedogenic factor of 0, veggie glycerin does not clog pores and is great for those suffering from acne-prone skin.
The essential oils are for scent mostly, but essential oils also have wonderful plant benefits. I chose lavender and rose geranium to help calm the skin and reduce redness and inflammation improve circulation and to relieve muscle and joint pain.
- 1 cup almond pulp from homemade almond milk
- 2 Tbs melted coconut oil
- 2 Tbs vegetable glycerin
- 7 drops lavender essential oil
- 7 drops rose geranium essential oil
Melt the coconut oil to liquid. Mix into the 1 cup pulp with the vegetable glycerin. Add the essential oils. Transfer the scrub to a glass container that can seal. Store in fridge for up to a week.
Bring the container into the shower and use generously on your whole body from head to toes, scrubbing in circular motions, really feeling the scrub working into your skin. Rinse off in the same way, making sure you have all the scrub off before you go out in public! Now that your pores are open and your skin is ready to receive full moisturizing, I suggest you follow up with my Moisturizing Body Oil, post-shower!
